Former Panchayat officer gets 14-year rigorous imprisonment

Thrissur, July 19 (UNI) Former Executive Officer of Upputhara Panchayat P K Sasidharan was sentenced to 14 years rigorous imprisonment by the Vigilance Inquiry Commissioner and Special Judge for misappropriating panchayat fund here today.

Special Judge P Q Berkkathali also imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 on him.

Mr Sasidharan, a native of Kottayam, was accused of misappropriating around Rs 70,000 earmarked for the construction of a cultural centre.
