Satna(MP), July 19: Four Christian social workers, hailing from Kerala, were injured as a group of masked youth attacked them at an orphanage here yesterday, police said.

The assailants, armed with lathis, barged into the orphanage 'Karunalaya' and attacked the social workers, who were later admitted to the district hospital.

The injured, identified as Johan, Ajish, Xavier and Samuel, were working for a Delhi-based voluntary organisation running the orphanage.

Though the cause of attack was not known, police did not rule out the involvement of some communal organisation, City Superintendent of Police Amit Saxena said.

Meanwhile, the Christian community has expressed anguish over the incident and sought police protection from the Superintendent of Police Kamal Singh Rathore.

Earlier also, Christian community workers were assaulted at Jabalpur and other places in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh allegedly by Bajrang Dal workers.
