Changi airport sees 5.4 pc growth in volumes
Singapore, July 19: Changi Airport has registered a good growth in both passenger traffic and connectivity in the first half of 2007, handling more than 17.7 million passengers, an increase of 5.4 per cent from a year ago.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore today said the airport is served by 79 airlines via 4,180 weekly scheduled flights to 185 cities in 59 countries.
In March and June 2007, the monthly passenger traffic crossed the three million mark, with some 3.1 million passenger movements registered in each month.
Flying high on passenger traffic growth, connectivity at Changi Airport has also improved in the past six months. Five new cities have joined Changi Airport's growing network, namely Udon Thani in Thailand, Tiruchirapally in India, Atlanta in the United States, Nairobi in Kenya and Budapest in Hungary.
Last year, Changi Airport handled a record 35.03 million passengers.
