APLOA warns of indefinite strike from August 14

Vijayawada, July 19 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Lorry Owners' Association (APLOA) today threatened an indefinite strike across the state from midnight of August 14, if the State Government failed to fulfil their long-pending demands.

Talking to newspersons here, APLOA General Secretary Y V Eshwar Rao said their demands included,the withdrawal of circular related to IPC 337, 338, 304 (a) which stated that during the accident period, the vehicles should be produced before the Court and urged for the restoration of earlier system where the vehicles were released from the police station.

Mr Rao said other demands included tax exemption for vehicles when the accident cases were in force, withdrawal of circular on cancellation of driving licence for a period of five months during accident cases and removal of professional tax from the lorry owners.

They also demanded a fine of Rs 200 for the violation of traffic rules in cities and stern action against the toll gate staff for collecting tax from the lorry drivers.
