Air Deccan to launch Jodhpur, Jaipur services

Chennai, July 19 (UNI) Air Deccan, the country's largest and fastest growing low cost airline, will be introducing new flights to Jodhpur and Jaipur from Chennai on July 26.

In a press release here today, Air Deccan Executive Chairman Gopinath and CEO Ramki Sundaram said the airline will connect Chennai to 19 destinations, namely Ahmedabad, Bangalore, a Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Port Blair, Rajahmundry, Tiruchirapalli, Thiruvananthapuram, Tuticorin, Vijayawada, Vizag, and all the metros and they were the only airliner connecting Chennai with Agartala.

Air Deccan had given wings to the commonman providing low fares and opening up unconnected cities like Tuticorin, Rajahmundry, and Vijayawada among others.

They said while they achieved the widest network and connectivity in the country, they aim to raise the bar and provide efficient on-time performance (OTS) to their passengers. On-time performance is their focus area and over the years it has seen marked improvement.

In June, they operated 2,850 flights, in south India, including 1080 based on Chennai and most of them were operated on time.

During the year 2006-07, they operated flights to 61 destinations with 306 flights and carrying nine million passengers as against 20 destinations, with 46 flights and carrying 0.4 million passengers in 2003-04.

They carried 12 million passengers for far this current year, they said in the release.
