Chennai, July 19: Air Deccan, one of India's fastest growing low cost airline which dominates the southern skies with the largest number of flights operating in South India, has further increased its seating capacity in the south.

As the aviation industry booms and more Indians take to the skies, Air Deccan had witnessed a growth in demand for additional seats in the South.

It had replaced its 72 seater ATR-72 with a 180 seater brand new Airbus A-320 on its existing Chennai-Madurai and Chennai-Coimbatore sectors.

In a press release here today, Company Executive Chairman Gopinath and CEO Ramki Sundaram said Air Deccan also introduced an additional ATR-72 flight from Chennai to Trivandrum in the evenings making it convenient for business travellers seeking day return flights.

Air Deccan has on offer more than 2.5 lakh seats per month in south India alone and leads the market with 40 per cent market share in terms of seats offered in the south, they claimed.

The airline led the low cost revolution in India which resulted in remarkable growth not only in leisure but business travel as well, they claimed.

With time being at a premium, corporate travellers to small businessmen and SMEs had all switched from trains to low cost air travel. Cities of the past like Trivandrum, Madurai and Coimbatore were becoming cities of the future.

They were developing into modern cities with big IT and corporate companies setting up infrastructure. Our flights at affordable fares are being sought by leisure as well as business travellers on these routes, they added.
