Woman commits suicide by jumping into well along with 2 children

Kolhapur, July 18 (UNI) A 32-year-old woman comitted suicide by jumping into a well along with her two children at Daulatwadi village in Kagal tehsil of this district.

The deceased have been identified as Aruna Pandurang Kande, her son Onkar (8) and daughter Santoshi (6), police said here today.

Police said Aruna's husband Pandurang had died in 2003, seven years after their marriage. Since then, her in-laws had been harassing her over monetary demands, according to a complaint lodged with the police by Aruna's brother Sanjay Nartavadekar.

Aruna had left her house with Santoshi on Saturday to pick up Onkar from school. However, she and the children did not return and their bodies were found yesterday in the well.

Police have arrested Aruna's father-in-law Baburao Vithu Kande (59) and his wife Sulabai (50) on the basis of the complaint lodged by Sanjay.
