We Don't Interfere: HRD Ministry
New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) The government today denied ''interfering'' in selection of directors of the Indian Institutes of Management.
A statement by the Human Resource Development Ministry said the posts are filled through Search-cum-Selection Committees.
It said the incumbent Directors of various IIMs were also selected by the existing procedure, which has been ''followed at least since 2002.'' To make selection base wider and the process more transparent, the posts have been advertised in accordance with ''the present policy'' on state-funded autonomous institutions, it said.
A Search-cum-Selection Committee is free to go beyond the applications received as some eminent academics may not wish to apply in response to advertisements, it said.
