US explores educational linkages in Sikkim

Gangtok, July 18 (UNI) American Centre Director, Kolkata, Douglas G Kelly is on a three-day visit to Sikkim to encourage educational linkages with the state educational institutes and the USA.

" We will be visiting Sikkim Manipal University of Medical Sciences, Sikkim Government College and Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology tommorrow to explore educational linkages between them and the USA," Mr Kelly said during an interaction with the media at Press Club here. He had arrived in Sikkim yesterday.

Highlighting that academicians from the US have been coming to different educational institutes in Eastern India to give lectures, Mr Kelly said that he was hopeful that a similar linkage is possible in Sikkim.

Such linkages already exist with a couple of educational institutes in Kolkata, he said.

This is the first visit of Mr Kelly in Sikkim.

Mr Kelly will be reaching Kalimpong subdivision under Darjeeling district tommorrow evening to explore similar linkages.
