UP police nears target of posting 30 % SOs from backward communities
Lucknow, July 18 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh Police today claimed to have ''nearly'' achieved the target of posting 30 per cent of station officers (SOs) from SC/ST and other backward communities (OBCs).
Talking to reporters here, state Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh said here that the target have nearly been achieved.
In a bid to instill confidence amongst the backward communities and SCs and STs, Chief Minister Mayawati had announced to post 30 per cent SOs from these communities. The Chief Minister had made this announcement in her Budget speech on June 29. She had said the remaining 70 per cent SOs would be from all other communities, including minorities.
''I can say we have almost achieved the target,'' the DGP said.
