Tin rises to 6-month high of Rs 700 per kg

Mumbai, July 18 (UNI) Tin slab rose to a six-month high of Rs 700 per kg, a small gain of Rs five over its previous level, on sustained heavy industrial demand and encouraging advice from London Metal Exchange (LME), traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said.

In the ferrous metal group, copper heavy and utensils also hiked by Rs 200 per quintal on improved industrial demand in view of lesser ready stocks.

In the non-ferrous metal segment, copper wire bars too hardened by Rs 100 per quintal, zinc slab by Rs 200 and lead ingot by Rs 100, in sympathy with ferrous metal prices, traders added.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 35,200, Copper utensils - Rs 31,700, Brass utensils - Rs 25,500, Brass cuttings - Rs 27,000 and Aluminium utensils - Rs 11,400.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 38,300, Aluminium ingots - Rs 13,500, Zinc slabs - Rs 18,300, Lead ingots - Rs 11,100, Tin slab - Rs 700 (per kg) and Nickel cathode - Rs 1,520 (per kg).
