Suspected spy arrested

Bhopal, July 18 (UNI) Police have arrested a suspected spy, who was carrying defence-related confidential documents, near 3 EMI Centre, Bairagarh, here.

''Police had received a tip-off that an outsider regularly visted the 3 EMI Centre and obtained confidential documents from some military officials. These documents were sent to Delhi, from where it were sent outside the country,'' Additional Superintendent of Police Deepak Verma told reporters here.

Based on this information, police arrested Mohammad Naim when he was sitting on a small bridge near 3 EMI Centre last evening.

A bag containing confidential documents and a compact disc, which had images and list of Bhopal's military units, was seized from him.

During interrogation, Mohammed Naim said he was a resident of Jhansi and worked as a conductor in the Railway Department.

So far, police have not got any information whether Naim was related to the ISI or any other terrorist group. However, investigation was in progress in this direction.

A case had been filed against the accused under the Official Secrets Act, he added.
