Security guard identifies Praveen Mahajan

Mumbai, July 18 (UNI) A witness in the Pramod Mahajan murder case, today identified assailant Praveen Mahajan while deposing before Additional Sessions Judge S P Davare.

Praveen Mahajan has been charged with murdering his elder brother Pramod Mahajan.

The witness, Matacharan Mishra, who was working as a security guard at Jinja Appartment where accused Praveen was residing, said he was on night shift duty from 2000 hours on April 21, 2006 till 0800 hours of the next day.

To a question by special public prosecutor Ujwal Nikam, the witness said at around 0530 hours on April 22 last year, one person had came out of the apartment and gone away in a car.

When Adv Nikam specifically asked whether that same person was present in the court today, the witness pointed towards Praveen Mahajan who was sitting in the box.

In his cross examination by defence counsel Harshad Ponda, the witness admitted that a police officer had shown the accused and the car to him at the time of recording his statement on April 27, last year.

On April 22 last year, Praveen Mahajan had allegedly shot at Pramod and thereafter surrendered before the police with the weapon.
