Rural sports to be encouraged in Phagwara villages

Phagwara, July 18 (UNI) Phagwara Administration has initiated a largescale campaign to encourage Rural Sports in all 84 villages of Phagwara sub-division.

Phagwara SDM Amarjitpal while talking to mediapersons here today, after a meeting with various social organisations including Sports Clubs at Tehsil Complex here, said that he had urged different Sports Clubs to extend cooperation in the wooing the youth back to traditional sports culture and to wean them away from the increasing trend of drug addiction.

The SDM said that in the first phase, five Villages including Kaulsar, Sangatpur, Chuck Prema, Bhaghana and Pipa Rangi have been selected to introduce the rural sports scheme and games like volleyball and Kho-Kho would be introduced in other surrounding villages.

He said that the administration will provide expert coaches and sports kits to the sortspersons from the rural area.
