Prez Poll: Cell phones prohibited inside polling station

Chandigarh, July 18 (UNI) In compliance to the instructions issued by the Election Commission, the use of cellular phones, cordless phones and wireless sets inside the polling station for the Presidential election scheduled for tomorrow has been completely prohibited.

A spokesman for the Haryana Vidhan Sabha Secretariat said that arrangements would be made near the polling premises to deposit the cellular phone in case any voter brought it before entering the place of polling station.

The same could be collected after casting the vote. These instructions would be applicable to the candidates, their representatives and members of the Electoral College also.

He said no official including the observers would be allowed to use cell phone inside the place of poll.

He said that the Election Commission of India had fixed the Old Committee Room of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha Secretariat, Vidhan Bhawan, Chandigarh, as the place of poll for Presidential Election. The timing of the polling would be from 0100 hrs to 1700 hrs.
