Jaipur, July 18 (UNI) The ruling UPA-Left combine's nominee for the presidential election Ms Pratibha Patil has sought, through letters, vote and support from all 200 MLAs of Rajasthan.

Cutting accross the party lines Ms Patil has written on July 14 to all MLAs to vote her to the Rastrapati Bhawan and make her the first woman president of the country, a Congress Spokesman told UNI here today.

Ms Patil stated that her victory in the presidential polls on July 19 would not only pave way for election of the first woman president but would also convey a good message to the people that any commoner like her, could get an opportunity to hold an office as high as the presidency of India.

Denying as baseless all allegations levelled against her by the rivals during campaigning, Ms Patil has assured the voters that if voted to the office, she would earnestly serve as dutyful president defending the constitution and upholidng secularism and other high democratic traditions.

The letters of appeal assumes significance as the ruling BJP and other NDA allies enjoy commandable majority in the 200 member Rajasthan Assembly.

As per the party position BJP have 122 seats(One Surendra Singh expelled from the party), Congress 55(one Jagat Singh expelled from the party), INLD(3), BSP and JD(U)(2 each), CPI(M)(one), LJP(one), Samajik Nyaya Manch(one) and Independents(13).
