UP: Mahant killed for post

Farukhabad, July 18: In order to gain a top administrative post in the 'ashram', a man shot dead a 'mahant' late last night at Mohammadabad area here, police said today.

Sukhdev and Akhilesh were at loggerheads for the administrative post at Amol Ashram. Last night, they had an argument regarding the same with the mahant Shantidev. After an heated exchange of words, Sukhdev shot the mahant.

Shantidev was admitted to Lohia hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries this morning.

Later, police arrested both the accused.
