Leeds honours Shilpa with doctorate

London, Jul 18 (UNI)Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty who became famous in the UK after winning the Celebrity Big Brother title will now be Dr Shetty.

Leeds Metropolitan University, which earlier conferred doctorate degrees on Amitabh Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Yash Chopra and civil aviation minister Praful Patel, today honoured Shetty with the same.

Shetty said, "It was a surprise for me. I was really humbled and I accept it. I don't know how to react to it." An excited Shetty added, it was an honour to be "sharing the platform with stalwarts like Yashji, Amitabhji and Shabanaji, people who I look up to, to be actually put amongst them and to be given a doctorate is a huge, huge honour." Shetty was in London to launch the three-month long India Now festival.
