Landslides cut off Darjeeling hills for fourth day
Darjeeling, July 18 (UNI) The hills of Darjeeling including Kurseong sub-division remained cut off from mainland for fourth day today following landslides that caved-in the National Highway-55 in many stretches since Saturday.
Official sources said today that only small vehicles were allowed to move via Mirik on snail pace.
Passenger buses and truck carrying essentials were not given permission to pass through the 88-kms road that link Siliguri and Darjeeling town via Kurseong.
Road menders were working overtime to restore the link, though the occasional rains were hampering the work.
Mudslides breached roads at Gayabari, St Mary school hill, Paglajhora and other areas on the NH.
