Jilted lover stabs his beloved to death

Kendrapara, Jul 18 (UNI) In a shocking incident, a jilted lover stabbed his beloved to death after she spurned his offer to tie the knot.

Police said Ashok Kumar Behera (28) of Raisungada village was in love with Manjulata Behera (23) of Baradia village under Mahanga police station in Kendrapara district and wanted to marry her. But the parents of the girl were opposed to the marriage.

Ashok asked the girl to marry him in a village temple secretly but the girl refused. A peeved Ashok went to the house of Manjulata last night and asked her to sign on some stamp papers for a registry marriage.

When the girl refused to go against the will of their parents, Ashok in a fit of anger strangulated and then stabbed her to death and fled from the scene.

Police said the accused also raped the girl before killing her.

Ashok later surrendered before Salepur police last night. A blood -soaked knife and some stamp papers were recovered from his possession.
