Japanese PM to address Indian Parliament
New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will address a joint session of Parliament on August 22, it was officially announced today.
Parliamentary Affairs MInister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi told mediapersons here today that the monsoon session of Parliament would begin in August, but he did not specify the date.
However, there were indications that the session would commence on August 6.
Mr Dasmunsi confirmed that Mr Abe would address the Parliament on August 22.
Mr Abe was invited to address the Parliament in recognition of the fact that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was given the honour of addressing Japanese Parliament during his last visit there.
Normally, the Parliament meets for the monsoon session in the third week of July. However, this was postponed this time in view of the Presidential election and also to facilitate the Japanese Prime Minister to address both the the houses.
Mr Abe will arrive here on August 20 on a three-day state visit.
