Haryana: Tax exemption on various items welcomed
Chandigarh, July 18 (UNI) Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee Beopar Cell convenor Bhagwan Dass Bansal today hailed the recent decision of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to exempt from tax items like guar, dhoop agarbatti, pesticides and low-cost footwear.
In a statement here, Mr Bansal also praised Mr Hooda for giving relaxation in quantum of penalty for not paying sales tax in time. As per the decision, those traders who would not pay their sales tax up to 90 days, would have to pay one per cent extra as penalty, which would be doubled to two per cent in case of non-payment of sales tax for more than 90 days.
Earlier this penalty was being charged at a rate of one-and-a-half per cent for non payment of sales tax up to 90 days and at a rate of three per cent beyond 90 days.
Mr Bansal said that the decision to nominate the representatives of traders as members of the District Public Relations and Grievances Committees so as to ensure quick redressal of their grievances would prove a step forward in creating more congenial atmosphere for trading community.
This, he said, would also uphold the dignity of the trading community.
''By promptly accepting the demands of the trading community at a recent meeting with traders, Mr Hooda proved that he is in favour of traders and has progressive policies,'' he added.
