Govt to establish 1,000 KVs, 700 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalasyas
Chennai, July 18 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation G K Vasan today said 1,000 Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and 700 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas would be set up all over the country in the coming years, to provide education to all.
Participating in the 105th birth anniversary celebrations of late Chief Minister K Kamaraj at a Corporation Girls Higher Secondary school here, Mr Vasan pointed out the Union Government had made a Budgetary allocation of Rs 23,142 crore for education during the current year, 34 per cent more than the allotment last year.
After presenting gold medals to school toppers in the recent plus two examinations, Mr Vasan pointed out the Centre had allotted Rs 7,324 crore for noon meal scheme of 9.5 lakh schools all over the country, benefitting 12 crore students.
Local Administration Minister M K Stalin presented awards to the Corporation school Headmistress for here efforts in guideing students to score high marks in the plus two examinations.
Efforts would be made to enable a girl student Mahavaram of the Corporation Higher Secondary school in the city, who got admission for first year MBBS course in the Government Medical college at Tuticorin, to be transferred back to any one of the Government Medical colleges in the city, which would enable her to continue her studies without any hurdle.
