Godrej to expand its Mohali unit in Punjab

Chandigarh, July 18 (UNI) Godrej Appliances will invest Rs 50 crore on the manufacturing capacity expansion in its refrigerator manufacturing unit in Mohali in Punjab.

Addressing a press conference here today, Godrej Appliances COO George Menezes said "Under the companys expansion plan the company will invest Rs 50 crore in its additional refrigerator assembly line in Mohali's refrigerator manufacturing unit, which will increase its annual manufacturing capacity from five lakh refrigerators to 7.5 lakh refrigerators.

Mr Menezes said "Punjab is a high potential market for Godrej Appliances, here the company has always recieved strong acceptance of its products." "The company has got tremendous success in the state with its 'EON Range' of refrigerators, air conditioners and steam microwave oven since their launch in December," Mr Menezees said.

Godrej would introduce washing machines and home theatre systems under the EON brand in September to compliment the range of EON Refrigerators, Air Conditioners and Microwave oven, he said.

Mr Menezes said that the EON range caters to the premimum market segment, where attractive looks and novel features are also an important consideration for the customer, besides quality manufacturing and service.

He said that with the success of its EON range the company's annual turn over was expected to reach at Rs 1000 crore during the current fiscal year from Rs 750 crore in the last year.

Sharing the company's performance the COO said that while the frost free market grew by 15 per cent in 2006-07, Godrej grew at 26 per cent.

Sales and Marketing Vice president Kamal Nandi, who was also present on the occasion said that "To support the company's expansion plan, the company is further strengthening its sales and service network to reach out to customers all over the state and other north markets.
