Fire breaks out in software firm

Chennai, July 18 (UNI) Fire broke out in a software firm located at the eleventh floor of a multi-storeyed complex at Chetpet here today, damaging property worth several lakhs of rupees.

Police said when the staff of the firm tried to switch on the UPS, flames from the system began to spread quickly all over the place. The staff rushed out of the office and informed the Fire and Rescue Services. Three fire tenders from Egmore and Kilpauk rushed to the scene and put out the fire, after a two-hour battle.

Police said office property like computers, furniture and stationery worth lakhs were reportedly gutted in the fire. Short circuit was suspected to have caused the fire mishap,police added.
