Experts inspect Sanctum Santorum of Jagannath temple

Puri, July 18 (UNI) The statutory technical advisory committee for conservation of the Jagannath temple has inspected the interiors of the sanctum sanctorum (Garvagruha) of the Sri Jagannath temple as the presiding deities of the temple went for a nine day sojourn, Every year during these period the experts examined the interiors and suggested measures to be carried out for the conservation and preservation of the temple.

In the absence of the deities-Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Lord Balavadra and their sister Devi Subhadra, the experts conducted the cleaning operation.

The team comprising Prof A C Gupta from IIT Kharagpur, Dr S Maithi of Hyderabad, N C Pal, engineer. Dharmuprasad Mishra, Gopal Mitra and Superintendent Archaeological Survey of India(ASI), Bhubaneswar circle, D N Dimiri examined the condition of the temple.

The experts, temple sources said, were looking for possible ways to instal an effective ventilation system in the sanctum sanctorum to minimise the heat generating inside it.
