CR hosts Chief Operation Managers Conference in Mumbai

Mumbai, July 18 (UNI) The Central Railway (CR) has hosted a two-day conference of Chief Operations Managers from all Railway zones at at at its Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST)-situated headquarters.

The two-day conference had begun on July 13.

The conference, chaired by V N Mathur, Member (Traffic) of Railway Board, deliberated upon identifying the loading potential for freight traffic and also how to find ways and means to meet the ambitious targets of originating freight loading in the current year, a CR release said here today.

In his pleneray address of the two-day conference, Central Railways General Manager V K Kaul said there was a need to re-vitalise organisational resources of the Railway and also adopt a customer-friendly approach.

The senior Railway officials also discussed 'Operation Chetak', which is shortly to be launched by Railways to substantially improve the running of freight trains on its network, during the conference.

Priorities for infrastructure development were also identified. On the coaching side important issues pertaining to punctuality, augmentation of trains by additional coaches and strategies to implement the budget proposals also came up for discussion.

Extensive presentations on important topics like Dedicated Freight Corridor and extension of the Freight Operations Information System (FOIS) were made by the senior officials.
