Counselling for engg courses begins

Chennai, July 18 (UNI) Single Window Counselling for admission to various engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu began here today, starting with applicants who come under quota for handicapped.

According to Anna University Vice Chancellor D Viswanathan, 262 candidates under the quota for the physically-challenged were invited for the counselling.

Counselling for students from other states would be held on July 22, general counselling for 91,093 aspirants would be on July 23.

Candidates from the vocational stream (2101) and those seeking admissions under sports quota (205) would sit for counselling on July 19, 20 and 21.

Of the total 1,06,000 available seats in the engineering stream, 65,500 are under the government quota.

The counselling began after Madras High Court refused to stay the centralised counselling for admission to engineering colleges, yesterday.
