Cop killed in Naxal encounter

Bangalore, July 17 (UNI) One police officer was killed in an exchange of fire between Naxalites and police near Agumbe in Shimoga district this evening.

According to police sources, the incident occurred near Neabala village situated in the dense forest of Agumbe in Shimoga district.

The police officer, who was killed in the encounter, was identified as Venkatesh, working in Malur police station in Chirthalli taluk, the sources added.
