Congress stages dharna against PBMC chairman

Port Blair, Jul 18 (UNI) The Congress today staged a dharna infront of the Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC) office protesting against alleged derogatory remarks of its chairman Sher Singh.

Some councillors of PBMC had reportedly taken the comment of Mr Singh against seriously and have demanded a public apology from him.

Local Congress spokesman K Ganeshan said when this matter was reported in the ANTCC meeting yesterday, the party unanimously decided to hold a dharna infront of the PBMC Chairman's office with its all alliances parties.

"We believe in the secularism and brother-hood and we condemn using derogatory words for a particular community," Congress leader Kuldeep Rai Sharma said.
