Congress MP appealS to support Patil

Hyderabad, July 18 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha Member V Hanumantha Rao today appealed to all the political parties, including the TDP and TRS, to extend support to the UPA-Left supported Presidential candidate, Pratibha Patil in the election tomorrow.

Talking to newspersons here, he said this was the first time a woman was contesting the Presidential elections. It was necessary to support her with a view to give respect to women in the country, he added.

He said he had urged TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu to extend his party's support to Ms Patil as their party had claimed to work for the welfare of women.

He said the TDP's decision to abstain from the election would make people feel that they had no respect for women.

He said the TDP should support Ms Patil to avoid negative vibes from women in the country. He hoped that the TRS would extend their support to Ms Patil.
