BJP Vidarbha election-in-charge hurt

Nagpur, July 18 (UNI) Arvind Shahapurkar, a senior functionary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Vidarbha, has been admitted to a hospital after being hurt seriously in an accident near here late last night.

The condition of Mr Shahapurkar, party's election-in-charge for Vidarbha, is now stable but he has to be kild under observation for the next 48 hours due to a head injury according to a BJP spokesman.

The car in which he was travelling was hit by a truck near village Burujwada, about 45 kilometres from here, the spokesman said. The mishap occurred when Mr Shahapurkar was returning from Saoner near here after attending some personal work, the spokesman said, adding that there were no other occupants in the vehicle.

The driver of the car, identified as Sachin Lande (21), was killed on the spot, he said.

Initially he was rushed to a government hospital in Nagpur and later shifted to a private hospital in the city, the spokesman added.
