Ambala, July 18 (UNI) All the judicial officers in Ambala district have been provided with laptop facility in accordance with the policy decision of the Supreme Court.
District and Sessions Judge B M Bedi handed over laptops to 13 judicial officers including additional sessions judges at a simple function held at the judicial complex here today.
Sessions Judge Bedi said the E-Commerce Committee of the Supreme Court had decided on June 22 to provide laptop facility to all the judicial officers in the country.
Accordingly, the Punjab and Haryana High Court Registrar General dispatched 529 laptops to Punjab and Haryana courts.
These included 280 for Punjab and 249 for Haryana working judicial officers. The total cost of the laptops was to the tune of Rs 1.5 crore.
He said the judicial officers would keep the laptops with them throughout their service period and would have to deposit these with the High Court at the time of their retirement.
They would also be provided broad band facility to get internet connectivity on their laptops.
He said judicial officers equipped with laptop facility would now have the latest information occurring in the legal profession and could have access to the new rules, acts and revisions introduced by the legislature and judiciary.
This, he said, would help judicial officers to update their legal knowledge which would not only increase their efficiency but also lead to speedy disposal of the cases.
