Active monsoon continues over Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram, July 18 (UNI) The South-West monsoon continued to be active over Kerala with rains lashing almost all places in the state.
Rain occured at most of the places in Lakshadweep also, a local weather office said here.
Koilandy and Irrikur recorded a maximum rainfall of 15 and 14 cm respectively, followed by Kozhikode 12, Kannur, Karipur Airport and Thalassery 11 each, Vadakara and Haripad 10 cm each.
The other places where heavy rainfall recorded in cms were Kumarakam and Cherthala 9 each, Kochi Airport and Aluva 8 each, Manjeri, Kottayam, Vadakancherry and Thiruvalla 7 each.
Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at many places in the state and at isolated places in the Union Territory.
Fishermen were warned of strong onshore wind from Westerly direction, with the speed occasionally reaching 45-55 kmph likely along and off Kerala coast and over Lakshadweep during the next 48 hours.
