3 killed, 2 injured during car festival in Orissa
Bhubaneswar, JulY 17 (UNI) At least three people were killed and two injured during the car festival in different parts of the state yesterday.
According to reports, a 15-year-old boy was killed in Patia area of Khurda district after he came under the wheels of a chariot.
Police said the boy sustained severe injuries and was rushed to hospital after the wheels of Lord Balabhadra rolled over him. But he could not be saved and died.
A report from Rourkela said Amit Patra (22) was seriously injured after the wheels of a chariot crushed him at Malda in Sundergarh district last evening.
He died on the way to hospital. A case was registered.
In the third incident Aman Panda, a five-year-old boy was run over by the wheels of a chariot in the palace line area of Balangir district.
Police said Aman had gone to witness the car festival along with his father. His father told him to pull the chariot. He lost his balance, came under the wheel and died.
In another incident two people sustained severe injuries while pulling the chariot at Athagarha in Cuttack district.
