14 entrepreneurs presented Lockheed Martin awards

New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) Fourteen Indian entrepreneurs were today presented awards under the Lockheed Martin India Innovation Growth Programme.

Giving away the awards, Dr T Ramasami, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, said there was enough scope for innovation in the country and the challenge was to turn ideas into profit-making ventures.

Seven awards each were given in gold and silver categories.

The innovations included Waste Plastic Conversion to petroleum fuels, Smart card operated pre-paid energy meter with automatic load controller, Apoptopic Proteins that can be used for the treatment of diseases like allergy and asthma by fusing them with human proteins, formulation of herbal essential oil extracts and isolates that repel mosquitoes.

The FICCI, jointly with the Lockheed Martin Corporation and the IC2 Institute, University of Texas at Austin, had implemented the Lockheed Martin India Innovation Growth Programme in India in March 2007.

It is a two-year project created to enhance the growth and development of India's entrepreneurial economy.
