Two arrested for attempting to shoot car driver

Chennai, July 17 (UNI) Two persons including a private car travel owner were arrested for allegedly attempting to shoot a driver with an air-gun, due to enemity and business rivalry at Secretariat Colony here on Sunday night.

Police said the arrested travel owner Balaraman and his driver went to another travels, where a group of drivers working in his travels had recently shifted and fired at the drivers when they were fast asleep.

In the melee, the driver Feroz had received bullet injuries on his thighs and was admitted to Government Kilpauk Medical College hospital here.

Based on the late information, police swung into action and arrested Balaraman and his driver Kabilan today and seized the gun from them.

Preliminary enquiries revealed that the motive behind the incident was said to be previous enemity between Mr Balaraman and Feroz.

The arrested were remanded to judicial custody, police added.
