TRS forces AP House adjournment for the day

Hyderabad, July 17: The Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for the day today, without transacting any official business as the Opposition Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) stalled the proceedings demanding an immediate discussion on the implementation of the 'Sachar'committee recommendations.

The trouble started as soon as the House assembed for the day, when Speaker K R Suresh Reddy announced that he was disallowing the adjournment motions given notice of by the TDP, TRS, Communist Party of India (CPI) and the CPI(M) on the issue.

The Speaker adjourned the House twice for brief periods, when the TRS members rushed to the well of the House, shouting slogans, pressing for adoption of resolution by the Assembly on the issue and allocation of Rs 1,000 crore for welfare of Muslims.

The ALL India Majilis-e-Ittehaadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) members also obstructed the proceedings for sometime demanding the setting aside of the regular business and an immediate discussion on the alleged delay in the judicial probe of the recent bomb blast in the ''Mecca Masjid.'' After the House reassembled, the Speaker postponed the listed questions and tried to begin a short duration discussion on issues relating to land.

When repeated appeals to the Opposition members to resume their seats fell on deaf ears, the Speaker adjourned the House for the day to meet again tomorrow morning.

Earlier, the Speaker disallowed the adjournment motions given notice of by the BJP, opposing the reservation for Muslims at the cost of quota for Other Backward Classes and the CPI (ML) on allocation of land for poor Dalits.
