SP MP aquitted in 2 decade old murder attempt case

Agra, July 17 (UNI) A local court today aquitted Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Ramji Lal Suman in a 20-year-old murder attempt case.

According to the prosecution, on August 2, 1987, a mob led by the MP had stormed into the house of a villager in Tajganj area and beat the family members severely besides issuing 'life threats.' Later, an FIR was lodged against Suman and aides for attempt to murder.

During investigation, the Crime Branch of CID presented chargesheet against the SP MP before the court.

Hearing the case yesterday, Additional District Court Judge Rajendra Singh aquitted Suman for lack of evidence.
