Polish President says shield "foregone conclusion"
WASHINGTON, July 16 (Reuters) Polish President Lech Kaczynski said today that the question of whether to locate the US missile defence shield in Poland had already been decided and only minor issues remained to be negotiated.
''The matter of the shield is largely a foregone conclusion,'' Kaczynski told a news conference after a meeting with US President George W Bush.
''The shield will exist because, for Poland this will be a very good thing.'' The United States wants to locate missile shield facilities in Poland and the Czech Republic, which has already agreed to host a radar site on its territory.
