Puducherry, July 17 (UNI) PMK Parliamentary Party Leader M Ramadass today took exception to the government's move to appoint a Committee to go into the issue of devolution of powers to the elected local body representatives.

Talking to newspersons here, Prof Ramadass said the second state finance commission had already identified the responsibilities and funds for the local bodies and now it was the government's duty to issue orders allotting them.

He said the setting up of another committee seem to be a time consuming process and added that the representatives were without any power for the last one year .

On transfer of Anganwadi workers, he said the Anganwadi workers should have accepted it as nowhere in the country, except Puducherry, the Anganwadi workers were government servants.

The government employees were transferable to any of the four regions of the Union Territory.

He said the Centre had allocated Rupees three crores for the development of the region.
