Official caught taking bribe

Jaunpur, July 17 (UNI) Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths today caught a Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) taking Rs 5,000 bribe here.

CDPO Shashikala was arrested taking the bribe from a widow, Urmila Devi, for giving her the appointment letter for the post of Anganwadi Assistant.

A complaint in this regard was earlier filed by Urmila's relative Santan Maurya of Sirkina village.

An ACB team from Varanasi district arrived here and nabbed the accused red-handed.

Meanwhile, a case had been registered and the accused suspended with immediate effect, district magistrate Aparna U said here.
