Man arrested for threatening ministers
Aizawl, July 17 (UNI) A man was arrested on charges of sending threatening letters to ministers a few days ago, police sources said here today.
Rothangliana, general secretary of Mizoram Mirethei Pawl (poor people's association) of Lunglei branch allegedly wrote threatening letters to several MLAs and ministers a few days ago posing as an underground leader.
He also allegedly threatened local newspapers of Lunglei for refusing to publish his letters, sources said.
Rothangliana identified himself as Vanhmingmawia, 'commander-in-chief' of a newly-formed Zoram Revolutionary Front (southern command), which he said would execute ministers and MLAs for taking away the share of the poor people, in his letters received by the newspapers.
''When the newspapers refused to publish the threat letters, he again sent another letter to the newspapers warning them against consequences if they failed to publish the letters at the earliest,'' police informed.
The police then reacted immediately and arrested the alleged culprits.
The Lunglei branch of the poor people's association said they would not stand in Rothangpuia's defence if he was really involved in the threats.
