Kashi Vishwanath temple goes online

Varanasi, July 17 (UNI) The world famous Kashi Vishwanath temple here has gone online with the launch of its official website.

The website -- www.srikashivishwanath.org -- was formally launched by Divisional Commissioner Nitin Ramesh Gokrana at the regional office of the State Bank of India here last evening.

The website will virtually make the famous shrine -- housing one of the 12 Jyotirlingas -- just a mouse click away from 'Shiv Bhakts' across the globe.

''The informative and interactive website will provide detailed textual and pictorial information about various rituals, artis and festivities performed at the temple,'' Mr Gokarna said.

Besides, the website will also offer special booking facility to devoutees eager to perform 'Rudrabhishek' or reserve their attendance at the early morning 'Mangala Arti' at the temple.

''They can reserve their places for the twin rituals two months in advance through the website. Provision has also been made in the website in association with SBI ATM network to accept donations from devoutee and in return send them 'prasad' through mail,'' he added.

The website has been developed in line with similar intiative at the Goddess Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and the Siddhi Vinayak Temple at Mumbai.
