IT raids on two doctors in Haryana
Kaithal, July 17 (UNI) Income Tax department raided the Nursing homes and residences of two leading doctors of the town today and seized records pertaining to income, investments, purchase of properties and other assets.
The raiding parties, led by Parbhat Gupta Deputy Director Inspection (Ambala) along with heavy police force, swooped down upon the Shah Nursing Home and its owner's adjoining residential house and at the Nursing Home and residence of orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Nitin Mehta early morning when the inmates were still asleep.
Describing the search and seizures, under section 132 of Income Tax Act as ''successful'', DDI Parbhat Kumar said that according to preliminary estimates there seemed to huge concealment of income and substantial evasion of tax. But the clear picture will emerge after the scrutiny of complete records, he added.
The construction of palatial house by Dr Mehta, the bank lockers and Bank accounts operated by both the doctors were also under scanner. Evaluators were called in to assist the department in ascertaining the value of a large quantity of jewellery found at the residences of doctors.
The DDI said that these raids were conducted on the basis of concrete information of huge tax evasion collected by the department.
Ashok Tripathi, Additional Director Investigation Haryana also reached the town from Faridabad to personally supervise these raids.
