'Indo-United States relations at an all-time high'

Rajkot, July 17: Relations between India and the US are at an all-time high, said American Centre Director Ms Elizabeth Kuaffman.

She was speaking last evening after inaugurating the four-day event 'America Days' at the Humu Gadhvi Auditorium.

'America Days', beginning July 16 is organised by the US consulate in Rajkot and Ramnaga to showcase American culture.

''Both the governments, US and India, hope to finalise the civilian nuclear agreement that would provide each of them clean energy and safeguard against nuclear proliferation,'' she said.

Doctors and scientists of both countries work together to develop new medicines and fight disease like polio, tuberculosis, malaria, and HIV/AIDS, she added.

Ms Kuaffman further said that nerly 70,000 Indian students and scholars are working with their American counterparts in gaining best education they can get.

For further study and opportunities in the US, she said visa officers will guide aspirants and answer queries regarding the application procedure for visas to the US.

Saurashtra University Vice Chancellor Dr Kamlesh Joshipura, Rajkot Mayor Dhansukh Bhanderi, President of Oswal Education Trust in Jamnagar Bipin Vadhar and Rajkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Hitesh Bagdai were among those who spoke on the occasion.
