High alert in Samastipur

Samastipur, July 17 (UNI) The district administration here today sounded ''high alert'' in view of threats issued by proscribed CPI(M) extremists to attack the area.

The Superintendent of Police (SP) directed all the police stations in the district to remain alert for tackling any eventuality in the wake of threatening calls issued by the ultras, police sources said.

The SP had also instructed the policemen to intensify the patrolling in vulnerable areas and maintain special vigil to ensure security of vital installations and public properties.

A powerful blast had been triggered by the ultras near Rambhadarpur railway station in the district in 2003. Consequently, vast stretches of railway tracks had been uprooted paralysing the train movements on the route.
