Govt to take up work on Kabini project soon

Bangalore, July 17 (UNI) Karnataka Irrigation Minister K S Eshwarappa today said that the state government will soon take up the work on the second stage of Kabini dam in the cauvery basin.

Replying to the issue raised by Mr Vatal Nagaraj of Vatal Kannada Cheluvali Paksha in the State Assembly he said that the government had already held a high level meeting with officials in this regard.

Criticising Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's recent communication to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking his direction to Karntaka to release water in the cauvery he said political leaders in Tamil nadu were indulging in politicalisation of the issue.

He said the state government would give first priority to protect the interest of the farmers in the state while releasing water in the cauvery to Tamil nadu.
