Govt "cheating" students on seat issue: AIADMK

Puducherry, July 17 (UNI) AIADMK Puducherry Secretary A Anbazhagan today charged the administration with "cheating" students of the Union Territory by not getting 50 per cent seats from private medical colleges here under government quota.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Anbazhagan alleged that the Chief Minister had failed to keep up his promise though he had informed the Assembly that the government would get 50 per cent seats in the private medical and engineering colleges.

Mr Anbazhagan demanded that the DMK, PMK and CPI, which extended support to the government, should make their stance clear on the issue.

On Lakshminarayana Medical College, which was now making efforts to get deemed university status after admitting students last year assuring them that the college would be affiliated with the Pondicherry University, Mr Anbazhagan said the party would organise agitations to protest against the management's "fraud" after getting Ms Jayalalithaa's permission.
