Ford India launches diesel version of Fusion
New Delhi, July 17: Ford India today launched a diesel version of its premium hatchback 'Fusion' priced at Rs 6.59 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The new variant would be powered by a 1.4 litre Duratorq engine.
''We have received an overwhelming response from the customers to Ford's diesel technology. So, we are launching the new product,'' company President and Managing Director Arvind Mathew told reporters here.
India has a huge market which is rapidly growing, Mr Matthew said and added ''We are looking at opportunities across all segments and would like to strenghten the diesel portfolio''.
He said that the company is also looking at the small car market but not under a price of 3,000 dollars.
Answering a question, Mr Matthew said that there are no immediate plans to go beyond 1.4 litre engine.
The new hatchback belongs to the lower excise category.
Fusion Diesel will be available in new introductory colours - Brush Steel and Mystic Wine, along with other popular colours including Moon Dust Silver, Panther Black, Diamond White and Paprika Red.
The vehicle has a high ground clearance of 198 mm.
The company presently sells a petrol variant of Fusion priced at Rs 6.41 lakh (on road Delhi).
